Mahershala Ali a Man with Many Talents

Mahershala Ali at St. Mary’s
Before the glitz and glam of being a Hollywood star, most people know Mahershala Ali for playing Juan in Moonlight or playing Remy Dalton on the House of Cards on Netflix and Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes on Luke Cage on Netflix. Everyone knows Mahershala Ali as being the first Muslim to win and Oscar, but he was also the first Division 1 college basketball player to win an Oscar.
Mahershala Ali stats

Ali attended St. Mary’s (CA) on a basketball scholarship and played four years as a guard under his given name Mahershala Gilmore. His stats might show why he did not dream of going pro and playing in the NBA. Ali’s life changed when his father died during his junior year and he spent that time becoming an artist, and when he finished his time at SMC he started to dislike basketball.
“I went to SMC on a basketball scholarship. But when I graduated, I no longer thought of myself as an athlete. Honestly, I kind of resented basketball by the end of my time there.”
Good thing he spent this time into acting because his performances in all of his roles are incredible.
